Welcome to Mallard Point Kennels — Where Health, Heart, and Home Come Together

We’re the Rankins family—Sherrye and John—and the proud owners of Mallard Point Kennels. Together with our five children—Casey, Luke, Emma, Kolton, and Hadley-Sophia—our daughter-in-law, and three wonderful granddaughters, our home is always filled with love, laughter, and the joyful presence of our Labradors.

Our journey began with our first Labrador, Abby. Her intelligence, loyalty, and zest for life completely won us over. She was not only a devoted family companion but also the inspiration behind our very first litter. A few years later, we welcomed Razz, our yellow stud dog, into the family—adding hunting capabilities to the breed we already adored for its temperament and companionship.

As a trained Veterinary Technician since 1998, I (Sherrye) have worked at the Veterinary Clinic in Brunswick, Maine for many years. My hands-on experience includes everything from surgical prep and anesthesia, to drawing blood, taking x-rays, running lab work, and assisting in surgery. This veterinary background is at the core of everything we do at Mallard Point Kennels—ensuring each puppy is raised with the highest standard of care and attention to health.

Aside from John’s full-time profession as a safety director for a corporation in New England, he in addition served as our town’s Animal Control Officer for over 10 years — another testament to our dedication to animal welfare.

Our children, and grandchildren, play an active role in the daily socialization of our puppies, giving them constant interaction, affection, and exposure to family life from day one. This nurturing environment helps shape well-adjusted, confident, and loving companions.

At Mallard Point Kennels, we are committed to raising healthy, sound, and well-tempered Labradors that thrive as loyal family companions, capable hunting partners, therapy dogs, etc. We take immense pride in the dogs we’ve raised and are deeply moved by the joy they bring to families across the country, as shared in our many heartfelt testimonials.

Thank you for visiting us. We’re so glad you’re here, and we hope to be part of your journey in finding a lifelong companion.

Therapy and Comfort Support Puppies

At Mallard Point Labradors, we’re proud to have produced many puppies that have gone on to become assistance dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support companions through a variety of programs.

Why are our Labradors such great candidates for these important roles?

It all starts with temperament—our top priority. We are dedicated to breeding sweet, calm, and highly trainable Labradors with a strong desire to please. From day one, our puppies are raised with love and consistent handling. Between the ages of 1 to 8 weeks, they are thoroughly socialized with children of all ages, giving them a confident and well-rounded start to life.

For over 32 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to uphold these standards in every litter we produce—and we believe it shows in the remarkable dogs that come from Mallard Point.
